Camera compatibility

Guardigan works with any camera that speaks RTSP and streams H.264 or H.265, which covers most IP cameras. Ring, Nest, Blink, and recent Wyze cameras don't speak RTSP: their video goes straight to the cloud, so Guardigan can't record them.

What we run

These record around the clock on our own network.

  • Amcrest IP5M-B1186EW-AI-V3
  • Annke I51HM
  • Anpviz IPC-D250W-SE
  • Reolink RLC-510A

Turn RTSP on first. In the Reolink app, open the camera and tap the settings icon at the top right. Tap the camera image at the top to open Device Info, then Advanced Network Settings → Server Settings.

  • TP-Link Tapo C325WB

Needs its own Camera Account, separate from your Tapo login. In the Tapo app, open the camera, tap the settings icon at the top right, then Advanced Settings → Camera Account, and set a username and password.

  • Wyze Cam v3

We can't recommend this one: enabling RTSP frequently failed for us with an "RTSP credentials failed to save" error. It took many attempts to get it to work.

Needs a firmware update and RTSP turned on. In the Wyze app, open the camera and tap the settings icon at the top right, then Device Info → Firmware Version → Update. Back in settings, tap Advanced Settings → RTSP → Set Up, set a username and password, then choose "No, Turn Off RTSPS" and accept the "Security Warning for turning off RTSPS".
